New on the site

Just received the visitor stats for November, and we continue to attract a lot of baseball fans! Our year-to-date visitor count is up 14.4% over the same time last year. I can't thank you enough for continuing to make our site so popular! ... We're proud that our first wall calendar is available. If you want one, you'd better hurry because they're now in limited supply.

2011 In Pictures

The Ballpark Year In Pictures

Each December, we prepare a photo essay to remind you of the biggest ballpark stories for that year. We're pleased to provide you with the 2011 edition of this retrospective, including the parks we said hello to and the ones that are being left behind. Take a look at it and post your thoughts at the bottom of the page.

Joe on
the go

As I do every year, I've submitted over 200 photos to the great folks at Strat-O-Matic. They'll be integrating my shots from the 2011 Major League season into their fantastic baseball-simulation computer game for 2012. Be watching for it ... Also, I was able to top 50 parks for 2011, thanks to the Arizona Fall League and the Fall Classic. I love fall ball!

Marlins Stadium

Big League ballpark notes

There's been no official announcement, but the A's are indicating they expect MLB to grant them permission to move to San Jose, where a new ballpark will be built ... Federal securities regulators are investigating whether investors were misled by the Marlins' understating their financial health. This could have impacted the sale of bonds that financed the construction of the team's new stadium (left). Also, a lack of parking spaces and mass-transit options has critics howling ... Citizens Bank Park in Philly is being converted into a hockey rink for the NHL game on Jan. 2nd. Here's a neat time-lapse video of the transformation ... Camden Yards is receiving a number of upgrades for 2012 ... The Rangers announced that sculptor Bruce Greene will create the statue of Shannon and Cooper Stone that will one day stand at the home-plate entry of Rangers Ballpark. Shannon Stone died from a fall at the ballpark July 7th. Also, the Rangers are showing off the progress being made in the renovations to their center-field plaza.
